I’ve never understood why cannabis isn’t legal. It’s harmless, at least compared to smoking, drinking and things like coffee. No person in the history of mankind has died of cannabis. Not one. And the plants are great for commercial use as well. You can make a lot of stuff out of it like clothes, rope, bags, you name it. Not to mention that the leafs are beautiful!
I don’t like it myself, I rather drink vodka or have a good glass of wine, but I don’t care if anyone else munches away on a brownie or puff on a bong for a while. Would should I?
So why do the legislator care? Well, with the exception for the very spooky and supposedly scary ‘gate-way’ argument there is no reason. Police resources that could be used to catch real criminals like murderers or child molesters are spent to chase these harmless people down.
Just legalize it already.

Att polisen springer runt och jagar folk som odlar växter som inte skadar någon istället för att jaga våldsamma brottslingar är för mig obegripligt. Inte sett från polisens synvinkel, klart att det är lättare att spana på musiker eller andra samhällsfaror än det är att ge sig på grupper som de riskerar att bli skjutna av. Men politiskt är det märkligt att gammal kristen moral har ett sådant starkt grepp. Jag menar t.om ärkekonservativa USA har börjat normalisera sina lagar på området. I Sverige däremot händer ingenting.

Har redan skrivit mycket i ämnet och det finns andra som gör det bättre. Huvudpoängen borde vara att det är min kropp, mitt val, men även om man bortser från det hamnar man ju i en märklig situation där man lägger hundratals miljoner på att jaga harmlösa människor som aldrig begår riktiga brott när resurserna borde läggas på annat.
Dessutom verkar vi vara överens, så varför behöver du en utvecklad tankeprocess? :)
Om Cannabis legaliseras faller hela hycklande kriget mot drogerna, i alla fall på lite längre sikt. Om västvärldens modell vore framgångsrik skulle inga illegala droger vara i omlopp. Jag antar att det är ett krig man inte vill vinna. Antar att 10 brottsynikat av 9 hejar på befintlig modell, och vill inte se någon ändring.

ReplyDeleteI've always believed the reason it's kept illegal is because there's no duty to be made on it. Tobacco is a lot more stubborn in terms of where it grows so many of us can't do it. But anyone could have a cannabis plant growing away at home (it'd be virtually worthless in its pure form too, so the criminals won't want anything to do with it and there would be little buzz and sense of "danger" for the kids).
The government can't earn out of it, so therefore it's illegal. They've done a fine job of manipulating the media so as to exaggerate its effects. And even so, the only danger posed by the cannabis available on the street is that its "street value" is so high due to its illegality, so dealers add a lot of crap to it to make it go further.
(I don't use cannabis either. I prefer single malt whisky).

But I too feel that the illegality to a certain degree have to do with the lack of taxation possibilities. However, just as with alcohol the government could outlaw non-professional making and selling of cannabis or any other drug. It wouldn’t change much, but at least they could bring in some cash.

Ifall folk vill förstöra sina liv så borde det väl vara deras val? Vi tillåter det ju redan med alkohol och tobak. Hade det varit legaliserat så hade även medicinsk cannabis kunnat användas, men som det är idag så får dom som behöver det leva med sina besvär istället.

ReplyDeleteI mean because of the MASSIVE DANGERZES! and such you wont have anyone decently dealing sticking to only pot, atleast I never came across one back home.
Nowadays I live in Belgium, it's sad how a banana-republic like here can have more sensibility in some ways then us up north in "the proper countries". I guess the real crimes around here carry a lot more priority.
